74LS02 Quad 2-input NOR gate

The 74LS02 holds four independent 2-input NOR gates. Each output is high only when both of its inputs are low. NOR is a universal gate, like NAND. Note that its pinout differs from the other quad gates: each gate's output comes before its inputs.

What the 74LS02 is used for

  • NOR-only implementations of a product of sums
  • SR latches with active-high inputs
  • Inverters, by tying both inputs together

Try the 74LS02 on a breadboard

The Breadboard Simulator has the 74LS02 in its parts library: seat it on a virtual breadboard, wire it, power the board and probe the pins before you build the real thing.
